Great blue heron raising its head and displaying its breeding plumage. I have never seen great blue heron behaving that way. Initially it was simply wading in the water looking for the food but suddenly it spotted a younger heron feeding on the opposite bank of the river. Then it changed its looks and approached the youngster with head up and fluffed up feathers. I am not sure whether it was trying to threaten it or maybe it was a kind of courting behavior. In the end young heron flew away and older bird lost its interest in him.
