Snowy owl sitting on a sandy dune of Westhampton beach. It was my first encounter with this amazing bird. I've heard a lot about snowy owls visiting New York during winter months but never had a chance to meet any of them. So when finally we saw the one, a little fluffy ball on the top of the dune, it was a really exciting experience. I was very careful when taking the photos trying not to disturb the bird. I stayed low and very slowly apprached the owl staying hidden behind the grass and making as little movement as possible. It was pretty successsful strategy since owl did not seem to care much about my presence, and allowed me to come pretty close. Unfortunately it was spotted by other visitors of the beach that rushed towards the birds with their phones in their hands runnning like a pack of zombies. Well, it finished as it was supposed to, the Owl took off and that day I had no chance to get closer to it. From now I was always trying to photograph snowy only when nobody was around.
